Not only has the City of Kimball (with help from a small army of volunteers) been busy cleaning up trails inside Willow Creek Park this past year, but they’ve now added snowshoes to the park. They’re free to “borrow” to use in the park, thanks to the idea from city clerk Nicole Pilarski and a fortuitous purchase of Army surplus snowshoes at the state surplus auction house in Arden Hills. A shed was built by Public Works next to their shop in the park to house them safely. Bring your own walking/trekking poles if you want to walk the approx. 2.5 miles of trails in the park (these snowshoes do not have teeth on them and they’re best for flat terrain without using poles.) Photos are posted inside the doors showing how to properly attach them to your boots.
The ice skating rink is now frozen over, and ready for skating fun (bring your own skates). And there are lights for night-time skating, too.
