Come on in, the water’s fine

Watkins Swimming Pool co-managers Kris and Bella Butterfass invite you to come and cool off in the pool! They’re open daily from 1-8 p.m. for open swim. The $4 single pass could be the best deal in town. Staff photo by George Matua.

The Watkins Swimming Pool is now open for the season, after a year on hold.

The daughter-mother team of Bella and Kris Butterfass are co-managers of the pool this year. Bella had been a lifeguard in recent years, working with manager Ashlee Lindberg who, Kris says, made quite an impression on Bella.

This isn’t the first time the pair has worked together. They both worked at Wally’s. Then, mom Kris was giving more of the orders. This time, it’s switched around, with Bella pulling everything together and Kris being more of a helper.

Kris said she couldn’t have stepped into the pool manager job without Bella’s leadership and  organization.

The pool is fully staffed for the season, with concessions available and lifeguards on duty.

There are no lessons this year because there are no instructors. So the pool is open from 1-8 p.m. daily for open swim. The kiddie pool is open for little kids with parental supervision.

Water aerobics classes and lap swim hours are not yet finalized, but these would take place after 8 p.m. Watch the pool’s Facebook page for updates (Watkins Outdoor Swimming Pool). You can reach the managers by phone at 764-7946 or by Facebook message.
