At its July 7 regular meeting, the Eden Valley city council discussed recent damage at the splash pad in Friederichs Park and possible ways to remedy it, including adding security cameras in the park.
They approved a change to the current street improvement project going on in Eden Valley right now: alterations to the Assumption Church parking lot totaling $8,374; this will be paid in full by the church and performed by the contractors on the overall project for the city.
Mayor Brent Bengtson praised the Valley Daze committee for putting together such a great festival in much shorter time than usual. “I was awestruck how well it all went,” Bengtson said. “Thank you!”
Police Chief added that he figures this was the second-biggest crowd he’s seen at Valley Daze. He added that there were a couple of minor [presumably law enforcement] issues, but the committee did a fabulous job.
At its June 16 meeting, the council discussed the Eden Valley Chamber installing a dock at Vails Lake. The council did not object to the chamber looking into this possibility, especially if the Chamber and not the city is responsible for it.
The council will next meet July 21 for a council meeting and budget meeting. The next regular meeting will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4.
