Fatal ATV crash

Just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 18, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call reporting a side-by-side ATV crash with injuries near the intersection of County Road 42 and Clear Lake Road in Farming Township. The reporting party stated that a side-by-side ATV had gone off the road and rolled.

Deputies learned that the 2019 Polaris Ranger was driven by Robert Dingmann, 62 of Richmond. It appeared the side-by-side had left the roadway on the left side of the road, struck a culvert, and became airborne. Preliminary investigation showed Dingmann was not wearing his seatbelt and he was partially ejected from the vehicle. Dingmann was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded, as well as the Avon Police Department, the Chain of Lakes Fire Department, CentraCare Ambulance, and Life Link III.

The crash remains under investigation.
