Joseph “Joe” Mathies, 41


Joseph “Joe” Mathies of Geyser, Mont., died Oct. 22, 2021. He was 41.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Kimball. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, with prayers at 4 p.m., at the church.

Joseph Richard Mathies was born Nov. 22, 1979, to Vernon and Mary Mathies of Kimball. Joe graduated from Kimball Area High School in 1998 and went on to study taxidermy. He worked many years in construction. In 2013, Joe and his family moved to Montana where they lived for the past seven years.

His death leaves a hole in our hearts that never will be filled. However, he always will be remembered for his love of family, his faith, and his passion for the great outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He is loved here on Earth as well as in Heaven.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He is survived by his children Mathilda, Vernon, and stepson Thor; parents; sister Theresa (and Jason) Carazo; nephew Jayden Carazo; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and many great friends.
