What’s happening at the Eden Valley Area Library?

Here is the latest about What’s Happening in the Eden Valley Area Library: A wonderful gift, some additions to our large-print collection, and news about ongoing programs are all covered.

EVAL has an extensive newspaper collection of historical Eden Valley Journals starting from 1902 that have been bound into books. There have been many people who are impressed when they come to look for family information from years ago. Often, these people come from the metro area or even out-of-state. This generous gift has been donated to our library by Steve Swenson and Mike Jacobson, and more recent editions of the Voice are now being added. With this large ongoing collection, we will need a larger storage unit to accommodate these heavy books. Please consider giving a donation toward shelving for these special books.

Come and check out some large-print books that we added to our shelves. Some of the authors are Barbara Delinsky, Sandra Brown, Jude Deveraux, Sue -Grafton, and everyone’s favorite James Patterson. Large print makes it a pleasure to read books because of putting less strain on one’s eyes.

Storytime Stars continues with wonderful packets for area toddlers. Pick up day will be Wednesday, Dec. 1. Remember to call the library at (320) 453-4434 to reserve a packet for your little one. They are sure to enjoy it.

EVAL Book Club will -discuss Sooley by John Grisham in December. The meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the library. Ellen Ellickson would like to remind you that everyone is welcome.

Looking for a great gift for your toddler? Join 1000 Books Before Kindergarten and give your little one a head start in learning. Another plus, it is always a joy to share a book with a little one.

Thanks to all who donated to the Mitten Drive. The drive ends at the end of November. We will present the gift to the Eden Valley-Watkins Elementary School. Those children receiving a warm hat or mittens will appreciate your thoughtfulness.

The library is open from 2-5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. In keeping with Minnesota and CDC guidance, we ask that all Minnesotans mask up to protect themselves and their neighbors. Questions? Contact the library by phone at (320) 453-4434, or message us on Facebook.
