River Lakes and Willmar have become a true rivalry, and Tuesday’s hockey match up at Koronis Arena was a testament to that – featuring standing room only. The battle lived up to all expectations. As the game melted away, and overtime seemed inevitable, River Lakes’ Aubree McDonagh gained possession of the puck and converted an unassisted goal, sealing the 3-2 victory, circa the two-minute mark. Willmar pulled its goalie following the puck drop but was unable to capitalize with the extra skater (shots on goal favored Willmar, 25-18).
