Lady Cubs claim 10th victory

Kimball traveled to play the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Falcons in conference play Friday, Jan. 7. The Cubs’ junior Kristen Hilbert’s left-handed post scoop began the scoring, followed by a field goal jumper by senior Madelyn Hunt. Junior Olivia Mortenson scored the next six straight for Kimball, as they jumped out 9-2. Junior Ellie Kuechle claimed a steal and layup next, followed by another Hilbert field goal and a Mortenson three ball to make it 16-2, Cubs. The Cubs continued with great defensive pressure, as they pushed their lead to 33-15 by halftime. Sophomore Ava Molitor scored with 13:48 remaining, to push the Kimball lead above 20 points at 38-17. Sophomore Brookelyn Kuechle pushed the lead to 30 points, after connecting on a three-pointer and making it 51-21 with 9 minutes to play. Junior Natalie Loehrer scored the final field goal for Kimball, as the Cubs led wire-to-wire and finished off the Falcons, 58-30. Kimball’s record improved to 10-1 on the season and 4-0 in the CMC.

“We’ve been working on our defensive intensity, our transition offense, shot selection, and offensive rebounding, and I thought we did all of those things better tonight,” explained Coach Jeremy Kuechle.
