Fair Haven Old Settlers’ Picnic

·

There was a huge crowd for the parade this year. President Vanessa Schlueter and committee members Mary Therriault and Jeana Calfas had fun with the crowd doing pre-parade warm-ups of “If you’re Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands!” The parade lasted just over a half hour with more than 75 units.

Our game stands went over well and we thank the queen candidates for all their hard work at these. It seemed, most people stuck around for the nickel ice cream which was generously donated by Kemps Ice Cream of Sauk Rapids. I think the heat got the best of most and people sought out the lakes or air conditioning at home. It was a sizzlingly hot day.

Kim Putnam and her queen committee put on a splendid Queen Coronation in the park that evening. Crowned Miss Congeniality with the votes of her peers was Heidi Maurer of Fair Haven. Then she was also crowned our Princess for the year 2002-2003. Crowned Queen of Fair Haven Old Settlers was Courtney Wills of Kimball, to reign for the year. Congratulations to both girls and thank you to all the girls for your courage and composure while being a queen candidate.

I do believe that “happy was gotten” this year at our Come On Get Happy Celebration, it was once again a wonderful success.
