Thank you to everyone who made the Red Cross Blood Drive at Watkins Dec. 16, so successful. Seventy-five units were collected which exceeded our goal of 70 units! Thank you to all those who came to give: the regular donors, six first-time givers, those who came who had not given in a while, and to those who took advantage of double-red giving.
Congratulations to these donors who earned a pin: Walter Kramer and Virgil Liebrenz for one gallon, Ron Kuechle and Joe Streit for four gallons, Doris Rathmann for five gallons, and Dave Knutson for six gallons.
Many volunteers are instrumental in making the drive a success. Thank you to all those who helped promote the drive: the organizers, telephone recruiters, poster distributor, the Journal Patriot and Tri-County News for the wonderful advertising, the Church of St. Anthony for bulletin coverage, the City of Watkins for marquee use and hall use, the area businesses for allowing posters, and for those who readied the hall.
Thank you to all those who helped the day of the drive: the volunteers who unloaded and loaded the truck, those who greeted and registered donors, the Catholic Aid Association for managing the canteen and those who helped in the canteen area, the Watkins Lions who paid for the snacks, the American Dairy Association of Litchfield for the cheese and butter, the VFW Auxiliary for the delicious meal served to the nurses, and to those who cleaned up and reset the hall.
Thank you to the Red Cross nurses who worked efficiently to make the drive run so smoothly so there was little wait time.
Without your faithful donors and great volunteers, the drive would not have been a success. Thanks again.
Keep these dates in mind for area upcoming Blood Drives: Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Kimball and Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Eden Valley.
