Myrtle Yanish of Watkins died July 19, 2003, at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. She was 80. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with Rev. John Brunner officiating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Myrtle M. Yanish was born March 29, 1923, to Jon and Christine (Dockendorf) Becker of Watkins. She married John Yanish September 16, 1941, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. She worked at Finger-hut in Litchfield and at Animal Fair in Eden Valley. She also helped with the operation of the family farm. She was a lifelong member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church and had been active with the Council of Cath-olic Women and the Mission Sewing Group. She was also a member of the Watkins Senior Citizens. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband John in 1991; granddaughter Shawna LaClare; brother Gerald Becker and sister Viola Herman. She is survived by her children Eugene (and Dianne) of Loretto, Arlene (and Charlie) LaClare of Rogers, Geraldine (and Jim) Mies of Rockford, Georgian (and Delroy) Hommerding of Brooklyn Park, Maynard Yanish of Clair, Okla., Audrey Hennen of Buffalo, Julie Ann (and Paul) Allen of Big Lake; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Ervin (and Rita) Becker of Spring Hill, Fla., and sister Rosella Hayenga of Luxemburg. Casket bearers were Mark and Dion Yanish, Wanda Mies, Jeannette Graner, Dawn Sandin and Carie Johnson. Arrangements were by Ertl Funeral Home of Watkins.
