REGULAR MEETING Unofficial Minutes Board of Education July 15, 2009 Ind. School District 739 Kimball, Minn.

·

Members present were Helgeson, Laabs, and Stenger. Members absent were Dockery, Peglow, and Zipoy. Because there was not a quorum, no action was taken.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all in attendance at 6:53 p.m.

Celebrations and successes of students and staff included summer recreation programs are going well, and are very well attended. Ashley Morris, recent graduate, has been placed in the “A” group in basic training.

Mr. Clark reported on projected enrollment at the elementary expected to be in the mid to upper 20’s. Presently there are two sections of all-day every-other-day kindergarten with 13 students per section, and one all-day every-day kindergarten/enrichment with 24 students. Grade 3 will be two sections of 29 and 30, and Grade 4 will be two sections of 27 and 29. Mr. Clark has completed tours for a couple families with kindergarten students, so there is potential to increase the alternated day sections. The Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) results have been released by MDE. Kimball was dinged again this year in two areas. The first is in elementary special education. This will inevitably happen due to this sub-group not meeting the high standards because special education is not tested on the high standards. The second area is at the high school math for free/reduced lunch students. This is a new sub-group for the District because of the increased number of students receiving free/reduced status. Mr. Clark is inquiring as to whether the District can file a waiver for either or both of these areas. Letters regarding test results and the AYP status will be going out to families soon.

Mr. Widvey reported on the Student Activity Fund account balances at year-end. Cleaning continues at the high school building. Currently the incoming 7th grade is at 68 students.
