Kaskinen is expected to be sentenced next month and could get four years in prison. Also expected to be charged (with a felony) is a 25-year-old man who was said to have been paid to purchase alcohol for Kaskinen and his friends that evening.
There were six occupants in the car that night who were treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Mozena was airlifted from the scene to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), where she later died. Also airlifted from the scene to North Memorial was Matthew Felegy, 17 of Kimball. Six-year-old Maria Fennema of South Haven was taken by ambulance to Buffalo Hospital and later airlifted to and treated at North Memorial Hospital. The other two occupants of the vehicle – Kaskinen and Samantha Hawkins, 14 of Cokato – were treated and released from Hutchinson Hospital.
Mozena was survived by her father, mother, twin sister Kayla, sister Jessie Skalsky, brother Christopher Kleve; grandparents Dean and Karen Mozena, Earl and Carol Hoffman; great-grandmother Virginia Newman; and others.
