2005 Fair Haven Old Settlers’ Day picnic plans under way

·

The Fair Haven Old Settlers’ Picnic Association has been busy organizing events since back in March. The assocation is working on new ideas to becoming more organized and preparing a spring full of fun events for queen candidates and picnickers alike. In April, association president Vanessa Schlueter and queen coordinator Shannon Jackson went to the school to make a presentation to young ladies interested in becoming queen candidates. Past and present royalty Jodine Lemke, Chelsey Wipper, Beth Kampa and Kayla Hinkemeyer all spoke of their experiences. From the presentation, word of mouth, and an advertisement in the Tri-County News, six young ladies have been selected to participate in this year’s Old Settlers’ queen coronation events. The girls and their parents gathered for a discussion on expectations, seeking sponsors, promoting the picnic, and the importance of having a fun experience- crown or no crown. The girls sought out willing local businesses to sponsor their activities. Miss Catherine Jurgens is being sponsored by Hair-Do’s of Kimball, Miss Meghan Holder is sponsored by Quality Blacktop of Clearwater, and Miss Lindsey Ostby is being sponsored by Express-O of Kimball. Miss Kayla Newman is being sponsored by the Fair Haven Lions Club. Miss Megan Wills is being sponsored by Fair Haven Electric Corporation, and Miss Suzi Bonham is being sponsored by Gohmann’s Foods of Kimball. The assocation and the young ladies appreciate the support of local businesses for their sponsorship and charitable work done in the community. The girls had a professional photo session at Images by Marguerite on May 9, which kicked off the events involved in the queen coronation.
