Attention all gardening enthusiasts. The McLeod County Extension Master Gardeners’ 2020 Annual Gardening Education Day will be Saturday, April 4, at the Crow River Golf Club and Banquet Facility in Hutchinson. Come join the McLeod County Extension Master Gardeners for a day of great speakers, gardening education, vendors, door prizes, and much more. Registration is from 8-8:45 a.m. with speakers and activities to follow until 3 p.m. Remember to bring a cash donation for “Hunger Free McLeod” to receive a packet of seeds.
This Gardening Education day features four outstanding speakers including:
• “Growing Fruit Trees in Minnesota” presented by David Daubert, Master Gardener, Master Naturalist, Tree Care Advisor, and Woodland Master Volunteer.
• “Ferns For Minnesota Gardens and Homes (With Fronds Like These, Who Needs Anemones?)” presented by Shirley Mah Kooyman, Native Plant Specialist with Natural Shore Technologies, Inc.
• “Site-Specific Perennials” presented by Michael L. Heger, Perennial Specialist, Author and Chair of the Minnesota State Horticultural Society.
• “The Ten Commandments of Growing Roses” presented by Jim Beardsley, ARS and Minnesota Rose Society Master Consulting Rosarian and Accredited Rose Judge.
The University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener program is a volunteer program that shares gardening best practices in local communities to promote healthy landscapes, healthy foods and healthy lives. Master Gardeners complete a university taught core course and contribute a certain number of hours teaching research-based horticulture practices in their communities.
