Roast beef dinner March 30

Co-chairs of the Depot Restoration Project at the Forest City Threshers, Rita and Frank Berg of Hector, announced the work projects slated for completion this coming work year. The work projects are primarily outside work endeavors which will bring the exterior construction on the structure to a close.

Included on the work list are the staining of the deck which was built this past year, painting of the exterior which was prepped and primed this past fall, and the construction of a shelf roof over the south entry door. The Depot will be open for walk-through tours during the dinner so that visitors can see the project that has been accomplished.

The Bergs are hopeful that there will be a number of volunteers to step up to assist with the proposed projects. Volunteer sign-up lists will be available at the Spring Roast Beef Dinner which is to be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at the Threshers Dining Hall at Forest City. In addition to the roast beef dinner, for the first time ever, it is anticipated that Craig Kimmerle will be on hand to provide live music as played on the “Merrifeld” piano – which was rescued from the old Forest City Schoolhouse. Mr. Kimmerle has been a musician his entire life and has at his command a wide repertoire of old-time and modern songs for your listening pleasure.

Newly-elected President Dale Groskreutz likewise urges that all come and enjoy the roast beef dinner, the music, and the opportunity to view the work that has been done on the Depot, Sunday, March 30.
