55th annual Cokato Corn Carnival

The 55th annual Cokato Corn Carnival will be Sunday, Aug. 8 through Wednesday, Aug. 11. A number of activities are planned to provide enjoyment and entertainment for the entire family. Carnival events will take place at Peterson Park in downtown Cokato. SUNDAY, AUG. 8 The event begins with an ecumenical worship service at 7 p.m. on the main stage in Peterson Park. MONDAY, AUG. 9 o A kiddie parade will be at 6 p.m. immediately followed by the main parade. o After the parades, the Turner Family will entertain on the main stage. This gospel band is sponsored by the Cokato Ministerial Association. o Food stands and the carnival midway will open Monday evening. TUESDAY, AUG. 10 o Midway and food stands open at 12 noon. o Register for children’s prize drawings from 12 noon-3 p.m.; the drawing is at 3:15 p.m. o Corn-on-the-cob will be served from 4-9 p.m. o Miss Cokato queen coronation at 8 p.m. on the main stage in Peterson Park. o A drawing for four $100 cash prizes will follow the queen coronation at 10 p.m. WEDNESDAY, AUG. 11 o Midway and food stands open at 12 noon. o Register for children’s prize drawings from 12 noon-3 p.m.; the drawing is at 3:15 p.m. o Clowns from Hutchinson will entertain children of all ages at 2:30 p.m. o Corn-on-the-cob will be served from 4-9 p.m. o Mid-Minnesota Concert Band performs at 7 p.m. on the main stage. o Bistodeau Family Bluegrass Band performs at 8 p.m. on the main stage. PRIZE DRAWINGS o The carnival finale is at 10 p.m. Wednesday, with drawings for $1,000, $1,500, $2,500 and seven $50 cash prizes and a 2004 Chevrolet Impala. Purchasing a $3 Corn Carnival button qualifies you for entry in the prize drawings and all the free corn-on-the-cob you can eat.
