We saw temperatures over the weekend in the mid- to upper-80s and lower 90s. We had a few showers and isolated thunderstorms that developed on Sunday across western and southern Minnesota. For much of the state, however, the showers have been hit and miss.
A weak cold front arrived on Monday from the northeast and again brought some spotty showers to the state. It continued to be very warm across the state.
We will see more humidity for this week and into the weekend. Some spotty showers will also be possible. Temperatures are expected to cool down just a bit for the midweek and into the weekend compared to what we have experienced recently. We could see some scattered showers and thunderstorms over the weekend as well.
Have a good rest of the week and happy birthday to my wife Tracey. I know there are a lot of June birthdays throughout the area.
Weather history: On this date in 1939, records show that “grapefruit-sized hail falls in Rock County.” The event killed “hundreds of farm animals near Hills.”
Weather facts: Did you know that hail is solid ice precipitation that “forms inside thunderstorm updrafts?”
