The area picked-up some snow on Saturday and brought with it some slick roadways. Snowfall amounts of one to three inches were common across the area.
Here are some of the snowfall reports from the National Weather Service from Saturday across the area: Alexandria 2.5 inches, Battle Lake 1.2 inches, Bemidji 2.0 inches, Brainerd 1.5 inches, Cross Lake 2.8 inches, Ft. Ripley 2.1 inches, Grand Rapids 2.5 inches, Morris 1.5 inches, Nisswa 2.5 inches, Otter Tail 1.5 inches, Redwood Falls 1.5 inches, Sebeka 2.0 inches, and Walker 2.1 inches.
It was cold and dry to start off the week as cold Canadian high pressure settled-in across the Upper Midwest. High temperatures on Monday were only in the upper teens and lower 20s. We moderated a bit by Tuesday as high temperatures reached the lower 30s across much of the area.
Temperatures will continue to moderate by Wednesday and Thursday. We should see temperatures climb into the 40s. This will help to melt some of the snow that we currently have on the ground. We will see another shot of Arctic air, however, late in the week. Temperatures will fall back into the low to mid 20s by Saturday as another weekend arrives.
In case you are looking ahead, warmer weather should return by Sunday into Monday. This warmer weather should stay with us for much of next week for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Enjoy the warm-up while it is here.
Weather history: On this day in 1833, records show that “a spectacular meteor shower was witnessed at Ft. Snelling.”
