·

Albert Yanish of Annandale died peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022. He was 88.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, at St. Timothy’s Church in Maple Lake. A family gathering will follow at the American Legion in Maple Lake.
Albert Paul Yanish was born May 10, 1933, in Maine Prairie to Paul and Rosalia (Grossinger) Yanish. He was a twin, and one of 16 children. Albert attended a one-room schoolhouse between Kimball and Eden Valley and, like so many students of the time, he attended through the eighth grade. Later in life, he attended Detroit Lakes Technical College for real estate.
On June 19, 1954, Albert married his beloved wife Joan Elizabeth Schloeder, and they had four children. Early on, Albert established a career in over-the-road truck driving, about which he was very passionate. He loved hunting, fishing, camping in his travel trailer, Minnesota State Parks, harmonicas, bluegrass music, horses, antique restoration projects, football games, German cuisine (cabbage and noodles, sauerkraut), and anything to do with family. Albert was a devoted and doting husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He never ended a conversation or visit without saying, “I love you,” and expressing gratitude. Even during his last days, he continued to display his witty sense of humor that we had all grown to love: “I don’t care for some, I had any,” or “My mom won’t let me.” Albert was a one-of-a-kind man, and he will be forever deeply missed.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, all 15 of his siblings, and his son Gary.
He is survived by his wife Joan Yanish; children Catherine (and Kim) Albright; Thomas (and Jill) Yanish; Lorilee (and Dwayne) Arnold; grandchildren Dustin Albright, Bryan Albright, Brenda Albright, Crystal (and Scott) Bakeberg, Kyle Payne, Karsten Payne, Heather Yanish, Melonie Yanish, Misty Yanish, Martin Yanish, Elizabeth Yanish, and Daniel Yanish; and great-grandchildren Kaleb, Addy, Collin, Sommer, Wyatt, and Elle.
