Aldon H. Benson of New Richmond, Wis., died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond. He was 91 years old.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, at Ostmark Lutheran Church in rural Watkins with Rev. Marion Rova officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Friends called one hour prior to services.
Aldon Harold Benson was born July 30, 1911, in Kingston Township, Meeker County, to Gust and Emma (Lindberg) Benson. He married Adeline E. Wiisanen on Nov. 16, 1935, in Litchfield; she preceded him in death May 2, 2003. Aldon lived in the Kingston area most of his life where he farmed on the family farm until retiring in 1987. He lived in Kimball from 1987 until 1997 when he moved to New Richmond, Wis. Aldon was a member of Ostmark Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling.
Aldon was preceded in death by his wife Adeline; brothers Harry, Raymond, Claude, Vernon and Vangel; and sisters Edith and Ruth.
He is survived by his children Gary Benson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Nancy (and Chuck) Magoon of New Richmond, Wis.; granddaughters Lisa (and Dave) Ritter of New Richmond, Wis.; Tanya (and Kevin) Fairris of Cleveland, Tenn.; and Angela Magoon of New Richmond, Wis.; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donald Erickson, George Meline, Orlin Olson, Edwin Hallberg, Donald Moen and Ronald Strand. Music for the funeral was provided by Jeanetta Carlson and Sandy Brown. Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.
