Saturday morning just before 8:30, April 24, the Meeker County Sheriff’s office was dispatched to an accident south of Watkins on CSAH 17 and 380th Street. Two vehicles were found in the ditch in front of Gene Asfeld’s farm. Doug Zwack, 42, of Kimball was driving his 1996 Chevrolet pickup northbound on CSAH 17; Zwack was pulling a trailer with a Bobcat on it. Gwen Nohner, 24, of Watkins was driving eastbound on 380th Street with three children in her 2002 Oldsmobile Alero. All parties were taken to St. Cloud Hospital by ambulance. One was later airlifted to Minneapolis. A benefit fund has been established for 3-year-old JaDyn Nohner-Epple at the State Bank of Kimball (see related notice on page 6). Watkins Ambulance, Watkins Fire Dept., Minnesota State Patrol, Gold Cross Ambulance and Paynesville Ambulance all assisted the Sheriff’s Office.
