The University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardeners of Stearns County would like to announce the 20th annual Gardening Education Day Saturday, March 25. Join Extension Master Gardeners and garden enthusiasts for this day-long event filled with valuable gardening information.
The day consists of numerous break-out sessions to select from including hydrangeas for northern gardeners, rock gardening, growing vegetables, and healthy soils. There are also sessions on growing edible mushrooms, growing orchids, and how to select the proper tree and shrub. If none of those pique your interest how about gardening myths, invasive plant pests, gardening terms, hydroponic salad tables, or water gardening in containers.
In addition to your choice of break-out sessions, everyone will attend two general sessions this year. The morning session is ?ÄúNative Bee Pollinators: Up Close and Personal?Äù presented by Extension Educator Dr. Karl Foord. Learn about how many native pollinators we have in Minnesota and how you can promote habitat for them on your property. The afternoon general session will be ?ÄúExciting New Plants for Northern Gardens?Äù by Debbie Lonnee from Bailey?Äôs Nurseries. Debbie has decades of experience in the industry and will share her favorite picks for the new plants gardeners can enjoy here in Minnesota.
Check out a variety of vendors for interesting garden items, canned goods, books, and decor. This is a great day and a great value with early-bird registration of $30 until March 15. This includes all sessions, refreshments, lunch, and a chance to win a wonderful door prize.
