The eighth-grade boys?Äô baseball team hosted Eden Valley-Watkins last Tuesday in a match-up of conference opponents. The Eagles struck first with a run in the second inning. The Cubs answered with two in the third to take a 2-1 lead. A rough fourth inning proved to be the difference as EV-W scored four times and held on to win 6-3 in a rain-shortened game.
Austin Donnay started on the mound for the Cubs and pitched all five innings. Austin allowed four hits and six runs, only one run was earned. He struck out nine and walked five. At the plate, the Cubs had five hits, Zack Holtz leading the way with two of them.
