On behalf of the New London to New Brighton Antique Car Run Board of Directors, I want to thank the residents of the area and all the volunteers for making the 23rd Annual Run such a huge success. After a rainy beginning, we started 50 cars in New London and 45 crossed the finish line in New Brighton, for a very successful event!
Your efforts in welcoming the drivers and spectators into your communities were part of the key ingredients that make our Run so well received – that wonderful Minnesota hospitality. An accordion player greeted us as we came into the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. It was nice to be interviewed and welcomed by the American Legion at the park in Litchfield. The Kingston Lions also make our visit there in the middle of the morning very special. Our lunch stop in Buffalo hosted by the Wright County Car Club is very important because it’s a chance to reconnect with our tow vehicles. And lastly, the lemonade break in Crystal helps revive us to make the last leg to the finish line.
Coming into the Long Lake Regional Park, seeing the finish line banner and all the people at Stockyard Days, couldn’t have been better! This year people from 16 different states participated. The overwhelming comment that we receive from them is how great the people in Minnesota are.
As we begin our planning for the 24th Antique Car Run on Saturday, Aug. 14, (2010), we look forward to your continued support. Many new antique car drivers will be coming to experience the fun of touring in our area for the first time and we need your help to make them feel at home in your communities and in Minnesota for a few days.
Again, our sincerest thanks for your help and enthusiasm.
