Arthur E. Klein of Watkins died on Friday, March 7, 2003, at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. He was 88 years old. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, March 10, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with interment in the parish cemetery. Arthur Klein was born on February 4, 1915, in Maine Prairie Township, Stearns County, to George and Katherine (Erpelding) Klein. He married Lorraine May on April 25, 1939, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in St. Nicholas. They farmed in Luxemburg Township, near Watkins, until their retirement in 1979. Lorraine preceded him in death on March 16, 2000. Arthur was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins; he also was active with the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Catholic Aid Association. He was a member of the Watkins Senior Citizens and enjoyed playing cards and bingo. In his earlier years, Arthur enjoyed hunting and fishing. Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine; brothers Nick, Peter and Alvin Klein; and sisters Hilaria Schreiner and Mary Schreiner. He is survived by his brother and sisters Leo (and Gertrude) Klein of Eden Valley, Betty Hoxmeier of Watkins, Margaret Kinzer of Watkins, Kitty (and Ray) Winter of Maple Lake; brothers-in-law Roman May of Avon, Donald (and Dorothy) May of Robbinsdale, Marvin May of Watkins, and Eldred (and Leona) May of Watkins; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were by Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins.
