Kimball American Legion Auxiliary Unit 261 held its 49th 6th-District Junior Conference Saturday, March 10, at the Kimball Elementary School. Greetings were made by department commander John Cox and department president DeeDee Buckley. Also addressing the conference were 6th-District commander John Bey and 6th-District president Kaye Peoples. Kimball mayor Tammy Konz greeted the conference, as well as unit president Renee Berscheid and unit junior president Megan Mackereth. 6th-District junior president Tiffany Berscheid held a great conference. We were privileged to have a guest speaker – Sgt. Zach Wells, a member of the Minnesota National guard – who spent a year and one day in Iraq. His mother, Laurie Wells, also spoke to the girls. President Tiffany’s project this year was to collect cans and coins to buy phone cards for the troops. The unofficial total at the conference was $418.25. Thank you for the donations to this worthy cause. Congratulations to all the juniors who entered the contests at the conference, and we wish you luck at the Department Conference April 14 in Nicollet. Congratulations to all the newly elected officers for the 2007-2008 auxiliary year: Brooke Merten, 6th-District president; Ashley Baumann, first vice president; Kristina Mackereth, second vice president; Tiffany Berscheid, sergeant-at-arms; Kaitlin Fernland, chaplain; Emily Boser, treasurer; Casie Mackereth and Shantell VanVleet, executive committee members. We wish you a great year. I would like to thank the businesses who gave donations for the conference. I know the junior girls had a great time and a learning experience. Also, thank you to all the members who helped to set the conference up. A big thank you to Jerry Meyers for all your help. Thank you to all the moms for taking time to be with your girls this year and working with them. They are our future. Thank you Norma Tramm, our 6th-District junior activities chairman for all her work. Renee Berscheid Pres. Unit 261
