B. Darlene Green of Sauk Rapids, formerly of Kimball, died peacefully Feb. 28, 2023, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Nursing Home. She was 96.
Open visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel in Sauk Rapids, with a private service for the family to follow at 2 p.m.
Betty Darlene Green, known as Darlene to friends and family, was born Feb. 19, 1927, in Estherville, Iowa, to Carl and Grace Boyster. She graduated from Estherville High School with the Class of 1945. Following graduation, she attended Estherville Junior College for bookkeeping and general education courses. While attending junior college, Darlene met Berle Green. They were married in 1947.
Darlene was an active member of the Kimball United Methodist Church where she served in the choir and as a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent. She was active on a bowling team, and in the Eastern Star. She also was a member of Sweet Adeline’s and traveled with them to London to sing for the Queen.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, brother Donald, and son Charles.
She is survived by her daughters Beth Green of Woodbury, Laurie (and William) Green-Quayle of St. Cloud, and Kelly (and James) Zwack of Rice; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to CentraCare Hospice or the Heart Center.
