On Tuesday, Jan. 30, Pierz visited Kimball to take on the Cubs. Scott Nystrom provided the first half spark for Kimball, scoring nine of the Cubs 20 first half points, as Pierz led 28-20 at the half. The Pioneers took over in the second half, outscoring the Cubs 34-13 in the second period to finish with a 62-33 win. Andy Dingmann led the team with 11 points, connecting on three 3-point field goals. Nystrom had nine points, Sam Scheeler scored five, Bobby Arens four, and Eric Nystrom and Stephan Kurkosky finished with two points each. On Friday, EVW came to Kimball in what would turn out to be a low scoring defensive battle. The Eagles led 22-17 at halftime, with Scott Nystrom scoring 10 of Kimball’s first-half points. The second half was again won by the Eagles 14-12, as Kimball was within striking distance near the end of the game, but couldn’t get any shots to fall down the stretch, as EVW won by a score of 36-29. Nystrom’s 10 points led all scorers; Dingmann scored nine points, Pat Libbesmeier had his best offensive game of the season scoring seven points; and Scheeler chipped in three points.
