Barbara Ann Wittrock was born on Oct. 1, 1964, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to Thomas and Lora (Maurer) Wittrock. Barb grew up in rural South Haven and was a 1983 graduate of Kimball High School.
Barb’s life was characterized by her selflessness and dedication to her family. She married the love of her life, Allen Fischer, on Aug. 20, 1983, at St. Mary Help of Christians in St. Augusta. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter, raising their seven children. They enjoyed raising chickens, game birds, rabbits, and chihuahua puppies. Barb and Allen’s love for animals extended to a vibrant yard, adorned with bird baths and feeders. They owned and operated a small engine repair business out of their home. After Allen’s death in 2022, their son, David, took over operations of the family business.
Barb was an exceptional homemaker. She was known for her culinary skills, creating delicious meals that brought her family together. Her famous Christmas cookies and fudge were gifts that were generously shared with others during the holidays. Barb had a special talent for making every celebration memorable, filling her home with warmth, love, and delightful aromas.
She took great joy in her garden, nurturing a variety of vegetables and flowers, and always ensured her family enjoyed fresh, wholesome meals, berry jams, homemade soups, and her delicious desserts. Barb had a green thumb and was particularly fond of canning the fruits of her labor.
She was a talented knitter, creating beautiful gifts for her family, ensuring that her grandchildren received lovingly made blankets and hats. She also found joy in watching farm channels on YouTube and sharing those with her family. Her kindness was evident in all she did, and she often prioritized the needs of others above her own.
Barb’s loving nature extended beyond her immediate family; she was a proud grandmother who cherished and doted upon her beloved grandchildren. Her legacy of love and compassion will be carried forward by them and the countless lives she touched.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Allen; grandchild Carter Fischer; and siblings Timothy and Andrew Wittrock.
She is survived by her seven children, Peter Fischer (Paula Galvan) of Darwin, Miranda Fischer of Buffalo, Michelle (Kyle) Kilmer of Clear Lake, Brenda Fischer of South Haven, Linda (Melinda) Fischer of Sartell, Brian Fischer of South Haven, and David Fischer of South Haven; 10 grandchildren, Darrin, Owen, Preston, Pierce, Kameron, Maverick, Maddox, Walker, Josie, and Andie; great-grandchild, Montgomery and one more on the way; parents, Tom and Lora Wittrock of South Haven; siblings, Thomas (Lisa) Wittrock of South Haven, Connie (Allan) Swedzinski of Annandale, Allen (Julie) Wittrock of Sauk Rapids, and Wayne (Tammy) Wittrock of St. Augusta; sister-in-law, Renee Wittrock; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
