Arrest for fleeing, DWI
Shortly after midnight Wednesday, Feb. 2, Stearns County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible drunk driver on a snowmobile in the city of St. Stephen. Deputies located the snowmobile driving west out of the city on County Road 5. The driver refused to stop after deputies had turned on emergency lights and sirens. The driver struck a fence with the snowmobile and got stuck. Deputies were able to use snowmobiles to get to the suspects snowmobile and located the driver next to it. The driver, identified as Joseph Scott Kiley, age 25 of Bowlus, was arrested for fleeing in a motor vehicle and DWI pending blood results. Kiley was taken to the Stearns County Jail.
Bomb threat in St. Cloud
At about 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, the downtown county campus received a telephone bomb threat. The caller was very brief and provided little detail. The Sheriff’s Office and county employees who have trained for this specific scenario so that when a threatening call is received, the reaction can be swift, organized and calm in a time that could become very chaotic.
A predetermined bomb-response team was quickly assembled to assess the threat and respond accordingly. With this type of incident the safety of the public and employees are of paramount concern. Also, when an event of this nature occurs, every resource available is used to hold the caller accountable for their actions. The investigation is currently ongoing and credible leads have been developed that will require additional follow-up. This threat did not disrupt either county business or the court schedule.

Sunday, Feb. 6
11:44 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a cellular 9-1-1 hang up in the area of 730th Avenue, Kimball. Everything was found to be okay.
5:49 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a custody issue at a residence on County State Aid Highway 19, South Haven. A deputy advised the party of their options.
On the 6th at 6:58 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of unsafe conditions on MN Highway 15 and County State Aid Highway 27, Kimball. Upon arrival of the deputy, the problem area was located and the information passed on to the MN State Patrol.
Saturday, Feb. 5
12:05 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the MN State Patrol with a report of a property damage accident in the area of 335th Street and MN Highway 15, Kimball. The deputies, along with the MN State Patrol, extensively checked the area and the vehicle was gone.
1:36 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of unsafe conditions in the area of Service Road North, Watkins. The deputies were canceled prior to arrival.
3:13 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a cellular 9-1-1 call at a residence on 298th Street, South Haven. The deputy filed a juvenile party report.
4:15 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted an individual on 367th Street, Kimball.
8:48 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Kimball Rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance for a medical at a residence on 742nd Avenue, South Haven. One individual was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital.
Friday, Feb. 4
10:08 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at a residence on Church Street, Watkins. One individual was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital.
Thursday, Feb. 3
1:18 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a cellular 9-1-1 hang up from a residence on 330th Street, Kimball. The deputy located the source of the call and found that a child had been playing with the phone. Everything was okay at the residence.
2:03 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance and Eden Valley Rescue to a medical on Stearns Avenue West, Eden Valley. Eden Valley Police were assisted at the scene by a Meeker County Deputy and Stearns County. There was no transport by Watkins Ambulance. One party was transported to detox in St. Cloud by Stearns County.
10:57 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a request to assist the public at a residence on Church Street, Watkins. The deputy checked the residence an all appeared to be okay.
Wednesday, Feb. 2
7:45 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Eden Valley Fire to a chimney fire at a residence on County State Aid Highway 30, Eden Valley. The fire was contained to the chimney and there was no damage to the residence.
9:33 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office arrested Brady Allen Lietzau, age 20, of Kimball, on a Meeker County Warrant for failure to appear for arraignment at a business on North Ramsey Avenue, Litchfield.
12:46 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a harassment complaint at a residence on 2nd Street South, Watkins. The deputy advised the party of their options.
12:51 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of possible child abuse at a residence on State Street South, Eden Valley. Eden Valley Police was notified of the incident.
5:44 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a civil complaint at an address in the Watkins Trailer Park.
7:38 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a cellular 9-1-1 hang up call. On call back contact was made with an individual who was at a location on County State Aid Highway 27, Kimball. Everything was ok and it was a miss dial.
Tuesday, Feb. 1
9:33 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a property damage accident on 360th Street near 587th Avenue, Eden Valley.
4:31 p.m. a Meeker County Sheriff’s Deputy came across suspicious activity at a residence on Glen Road North, Watkins. Upon checking the residence the deputy found everything to be okay.
Monday, Jan. 31
4:20 p.m. a Meeker County Sheriff’s Deputy came across an abandoned vehicle on 340th Street near County State Aid Highway 34, Watkins. The vehicle was deemed not to be a road hazard.
4:40 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of theft from a vulnerable adult at a residence on Luella Street, Watkins.
