Troop 363 recently visited the Upper Penninsula of Michigan to complete their backpacking merit badges. Six boys in the Eden Valley-Watkins Boy Scout Troop
have been working the past six months on this merit badge. This merit badge consisted of three 15-mile backpacking events and one 30-mile event (among other requirements such as learning first aid, etc). The three 15-mile events took place at three different Minnesota State Parks, and the 30-mile event was at Porcupine Mountains State Park, Michigan.
This merit badge was made possible in part from a grant from Meeker Cooperative Electric Trust. The grant helped to purchase backpacks, camp stoves, flashlights and sleeping packs designed for backpacking events like this.
