Brenda Sievert of Kimball died Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Savanna Prairie Assisted Living in Kimball. She was 56.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 2, at the Downtown First United Methodist Church in Mitchell, S.D. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell, S.D. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Brenda was born Oct. 23, 1964, to Harold and Sandra (Weeks) Sievert in Mitchell, S.D. She participated in volleyball and basketball in high school, and she was a cheerleader for the boys’ basketball team as well as the pheasant mascot for the South Dakota School For The Deaf in Sioux Falls. Brenda was in the Awareness Group, Jr. Nad, and 4-H during her high school years. She also participated in doing plays her junior and senior high school years. Brenda graduated from the School For The Deaf in 1983, and from Iowa Western College in 1986 with a secretarial degree. She was baptized and confirmed in the United Methodist Church on the same day as her sister Teresa.

Pepperoni pizza was Brenda’s favorite food, and she always enjoyed eating it with her family and friends. She also loved spending time with her nephews and nieces. Brenda loved to go bowling, win at Bingo, do crafts, and watch Minnesota Vikings football games and Minnesota Twins baseball games.

Brenda worked at Shopko in Sioux Falls for just over 17 years. She worked at Shopko in River Falls, Wisc., for just over a year, and then at Shopko in St. Cloud for 12 years until she had to stop working because of her multiple sclerosis.

Brenda was preceded in death in 2006 by her father Harold Sievert, and by her grandparents Arthur and Viola (Kluth) Weeks, and John and Evelyn (Fouberg) Sievert.

She is survived by her mother Sandra Sievert of Mitchell, S.D.; siblings Marlo (and Coral) Sievert, Roger Sievert, and Scott Sievert (and fiancée Kara Testerman), all of Mitchell, S.D., and Teresa (and Mike) Schiefelbein of Kimball; nephews and nieces Jonathon (and Tara) Sievert, Nathon (and Melanie) Sievert, Tyler Sievert, and Cole Sievert, all of Mitchell, S.D., Skyler Schiefelbein and Brandon Schiefelbein, both of Volga, S.D., Amanda (and Joe) Swenson of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Jennifer Sievert of Mitchell, S.D.; and great-nephews and nieces.
