Paynesville hosted the junior high Cubs last Friday, April 28, on a very soggy day for baseball.
It was Gavin -Mesenbrink’s turn in the rotation as he started pitching for -Kimball. Gavin threw two innings and gave up seven runs on nine hits. He struck out four and walked two Bulldogs. Graham Gregorson relieved and pitched three hitless shutout innings. Caden Petersen closed the game giving up one hit in an inning of work.
The Cubs belted out eight hits, Tanner Kuseske and Ryder Schwieters each picking up two. Five different players scored for Kimball in the 5-7 loss. The Cubs are now 2-2-1 on the season and have three games this week.
