Tuesday, Dec. 20, the boys?Äô C-squad continued their home stand by facing Annandale. The boys played a close game, falling by a score of 31-24. At halftime the score was 23-16. The Cubs?Äô offense again struggled to get in sync. However, on the defensive end of the floor they played very well only giving up 8 points after the break. In the last 3 minutes of the game we forced four steals but could not turn it into points on the other end. The boys played hard the entire game, but came up a little short at the end. Noah Young led the Cubs scoring with 10 points. Overall for the game, I was very pleased with how our defense played. We have given up fewer and fewer points with each game we play. We have been working very hard in practice on our defense, especially our rebounding.
Thursday, Dec. 22, the boys played host to a strong Milaca team. It was a tough game as we dug ourselves a big hole getting down by 20 at halftime. Milaca came out in a strong full court press and then fell into a zone defense. This was the first game we were pressed hard, and we struggled to adjust to it all night. They also capitalized on our turnovers turning them into points. The final score ended up being 56-27. It was a good learning experience for us as we were taken out of our comfort zone. For the Cubs, Tyler Stang and Logan Silbernagel each notched 6 points, which is a season high for both of them. The C-squad is off until Jan. 3, when we host Eden Valley-Watkins at 5:45.
