Carla Scheffert, 82
Carla Scheffert of St. Cloud, formerly of Annandale, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at Edenbrook of St. Cloud. She was 82. 
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale with Rev. Ken Tatkenhorst officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Ottertail.
Carla Jeanne Hellbusch was born Feb. 18, 1942, in Fullerton, Neb., to Emil “Jack” and June (Schroeder) Hellbusch. She was baptized March 15, 1942, at Peace Lutheran in Timber Creek, Neb. Carla moved with her family near Henning, Minn. She was confirmed April 3, 1955, at St. John’s Lutheran in Ottertail. She was a 1959 graduate of Henning High School. She then completed her R.N. schooling at St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Fargo, N.D. She continued her education, graduating from College of St. Francis in Joliette, Ill., and Concordia University in Mequon, Wis.
Carla was a devoted nurse whose passion for home health care touched the lives of countless individuals and families. Her tenure at parish nursing exemplified her commitment to service and her remarkable ability to care for others, bringing comfort to those in her presence. Throughout her life, Carla exemplified strength and determination in the face of challenges. She was always ready with wise counsel, a listening ear, and a compassionate embrace.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Carla was a woman of many talents. She found joy in quilting, knitting, scrapbooking, and often created heartfelt greeting cards. Her love for reading provided her with endless adventures, and she enjoyed perfecting ehr culinary skills. As a gardener, Carla cultivated sanctuary that reflected her nurturing nature, and she proudly shared her knowledge as a tea connoisseur, believing in the comfort of a warm cup shared with others.
Carla was preceded in death by her son Paul in 1987, and her parents.
She is survived by her children John (and Suzanne) Scheffert of Prior Lake, Minn., and Jill (and Mac) McAlister of Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandchildren Carlie McAlister, Nicholas Scheffert, and Andrew Scheffert; and other family members and dear friends.
In honor of Carla’s request of no flowers, donations may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church in Fair Haven, Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie, or St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ottertail.
