Editors Jill Libbesmeier and Lynn Powell led the Kimball Area High School annual staff in its first meeting Sept. 16. The group, which is advised by Heather Dulas and Cheryl Wyatt, will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays through March to create the high school yearbook, the Carnelian. All students in grades 7-12 are invited to join. Student members have the opportunity to learn digital and still imagery, practice photojournalism, and create their own page layouts for publication. Students learn photography skills for portraits, candids, and action photos. All page design is done on the computer using PageMaker and the Jostens YearTech program. The Carnelian will include a 16 page color section for the second year. The completed book will be delivered in May and students have an afternoon for annual signing. Annuals will be sold during lunch Oct. 5-9. The books cost $35 each. Students may pay half in the fall and half at delivery. Yearbook staff members will be out in the community doing various fundraisers this fall. During the next few weeks students will be selling Pampered Chef and Tupperware items to help defray the film and photo-finishing costs. The staff is hoping to purchase a high-quality digital camera in order to do more of its work right from the computer and eliminate some photo charges. Students will also be contacting area businesses to sell ads for publication in the yearbook. The Carnelian staff meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5 p.m. For more information, please contact Heather Dulas or Cheryl Wyatt. Please don’t forget these important dates. o Oct. 5-9 annuals will be sold during lunch. o Oct. 30 senior pictures and senior baby pictures are due. (drop off in HS office) Submitted by Heather Dulas
