Chances of snow as temps tumble to single digits

·
Our weather pattern is finally changing after such a mild December. Following a warm and a rainy December, we are seeing colder temperatures, and now snow.
Snow and some freezing drizzle fell on Friday and again on Saturday. This made for very slick roadways at times across the region.
More snow arrived Monday as two disturbances combined with one system coming out of the Oklahoma Panhandle, along with a clipper-type system that brought some snow to the region. Highs were generally in the low- to mid-20s to start the week.
We will see some more snow possible on Wednesday, and again on Saturday across the state. Temperatures will cool off considerably as the coldest air of the -season is expected to arrive. Look for highs in the single digits above and below zero for late this week to settle in for much of next week.
Stay warm, and drive carefully.
Weather history: On this date in 1975 the “Blizzard of the Century” began. It was one of the “worst blizzards ever” in Minnesota.
Weather facts: Did you know that a ground blizzard occurs when there is no actual snow falling? Instead, the existing snow “is lifted and blown around” creating limited to no visibility.
