What’s happening at the Eden Valley Area Library?
February is about many things: Black History Month, Valentine’s Day, unpredictable groundhogs, and all those presidents. Not to be outdone, the library has some terrific programs going on as well.
With the amount of snow that fell in January, it is great to be able to take advantage of Walk Fit in the Community Center. Enter through the library and bring your best walking shoes. Walk for fitness or just to reduce stress. The hours are from 2-5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The Community Center will not be available on the second Monday and Wednesday of each month, or if the schools are closed due to weather. Let’s hope the snow tapers off.
Storytime for toddlers through preschool-age continues to brighten the smiles of those little ones. In February, it takes place from 10-11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13. Bring the children in for a great story, snacks, and possibly a song or two. Please remember that all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Eden Valley Library Book Club is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the library. The selection for the month is “Dreaming of Flight” by Catherine Ryan Hyde. “An unexpected connection becomes the saving grace for two unlikely friends in a heart-stirring novel about love, loss, and moving forward by a New York Times and #1 Amazon Charts best-selling author.” This one is not to be missed.
As mentioned in the January column, the library now has updated our computers and monitors for patron use. These purchases were made possible by grants from The Southwest Initiative Foundation, Meeker Cooperative Electric Association Trust, and Stearns Electric Association Trust. However, there is an unsung hero in our midst. This lady not only researched which computers and monitors made the best fit for the library, she also arranged for the purchase. She then picked them up, hauled them to the library and helped with the setup. That, along with the countless hours spent communicating with Arvig before and after the installation, made this a monumental task. Next time you stop in the library or see her out walking, give Pat Schlangen a big “thank you!”
Because this month is all about love, how about spreading some to a young child you know. 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten truly gives those youngsters a head start. Stop in the library for your packet. Learn all about the program, and start the reading adventure of a lifetime.
The current library hours are from 2-5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays. Questions? Contact the library by phone at (320) 453-4434, or message us on Facebook.
