What’s happening at the Eden Valley Area Library?

March 2023 marks an important milestone for our all-volunteer library. We can proudly proclaim we have been up and running for 10 years. Numerous hurdles have been faced, starting with collecting and cataloging all those wonderful books and other donations. We set up used bookshelves, computer equipment, and our first checkout desk. On to training our volunteers, painting the interior, and working to update furnishings and equipment.

Thanks to the generosity of our patrons, area businesses, and the dedication of our volunteers, we can happily say we made it. Along the way, we offered programs we felt were of importance to the community. Some of those highlights were visits from William Kent Krueger, Patty Wetterling, The Raptor Center, and Terebinth Rescue. Our programs for children including Education Nation, Toddler Storytime, and 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. Consider stopping in to see the progress we’ve made, and apply for a library card if you don’t already have one.

Considering our 10 years of success, it is probably a good time to mention we need volunteers. If you don’t feel comfortable working alone behind the checkout desk, there are many other volunteer options available. Stop in and request a volunteer application to fill out.

With warm weather approaching, Walk Fit in the Community Center has ended for the season.

Speaking of warm weather, are you dreaming of having some sort of garden this year? Garden Dreams is a program that fosters the love of gardening and is a source for free flower and vegetable seeds. Our Seed Library will be ready for you Saturday, April 1.

Eden Valley Library Book Club is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23, in the library. “The Nature of Fragile Things” by Susan Meissner will be discussed. Remember, everyone is welcome. Come join us and see what you think.

The current library hours are from 2-5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Questions? Contact the library by phone at at (320) 453-4434, or message us on Facebook.
