Tri-County News

Check it Out!

What’s happening at the Eden Valley Area Library?

We are starting out June with the best of news. We are expanding our summer hours to include Tuesdays and Thursdays. That means we are open from 2-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, which leads to more good news. Thanks to grant money from Meeker and Stearns Operation Round-Up programs as well as personal donations, we were able to order bookshelves from Schlangen’s Custom Cabinets. They have been installed and look great. More importantly they are safe and suitable for handling the weight of all those great books. Plan on stopping in to see all the changes.

Education Nation kicks off in June and continues through August.

Wednesdays, June 8, and June 22, offer a visit from the Dairy Princess and a field trip to the NexGen Dairy Farm.

Mark your calendars for July 13, 27, Aug. 10, and 24. Check for further information on our Facebook page or our website at eval22-org.doodlekit.com/. We have lots of fun and educational plans in store.

Summer Reading Bingo is starting up. Have the kids stop into the library for a bingo sheet. They fill it out, have an adult sign it and return it for a prize. The completed sheets will be posted in the library window. It’s a fun way to ensure they don’t slip down the summer slide.

Our newest volunteer, Cindy Hower is having fun decorating our windows with colorful creations. She provides a bright note on State Street and gives those walking past a smile. The library appreciates her enthusiasm and hard work.

If you’re looking for more large print books, or if you’ve never tried reading one, you should try one of our new purchases. We now have “The Storyteller” by Jodi Picoult, one of our favorite authors. There is also “Into the Water” by Paula Hawkins as well as “The Lying Game” and “The Turn of the Key” by Ruth Ware. Stop in and check out all our great titles. Your eyes will appreciate it.

On a similar note, we have some wonderful newly donated books in regular print. Why not go on vacation in Havana while reading “Next Year in Havana” by Chanel Cleeton or “The People We Meet on Vacation” by Emily Henry?

As of June 1, the library is open from 2-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Questions? Contact the library by phone at (320) 453-4434, or message us on Facebook.
