Chester Schmidt of Annandale, formerly of Kimball, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale with Rev. David Doppenberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Fair Haven Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Chester George Schmidt was born Jan. 9, 1929, in Fair Haven Township, Stearns County, to Ted and Ada (Meyer) Schmidt. He married Shirley Fieldseth Aug. 26, 1950, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fair Haven. They lived in the Kimball area until moving to Annandale seven years ago. Chet was a DHIA supervisor working for the Stearns County Dairy Herd Improvement Association for 38 years. He also worked part-time for Gannon Elevator Co. in Kimball for 15 years. He was formerly a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Fair Haven and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kimball where he was Sunday School superintendent and church officer for many years. He was a member of the Kimball Lions Club and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale. Chet enjoyed family and friends, and he was an avid fisherman. Chet was preceded in death by his brother Delmer. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Annandale; two daughters, Sharon (and Brad) Bouska of Annandale, and Jackie (and Gordy) Morrill of Walker; five brothers: Howard (and Lola) Schmidt of South Haven, Darrel (and special friend Colleen) Schmidt of South Haven, Kenneth (and Wanda) Schmidt of Kimball, Ronald (and Marlys) Schmidt of Moorhead, and Roger (and Peggy) Schmidt of Elk River; sister-in-law Dolly Schmidt of South Haven; seven grandchildren: Chad Kuechle, Heather Moseley, Justin Bouska, Teresa Zuehl, Shannon Bouska, Greg Morrill and Katie Morrill; and two great-grandchildren: Sunny Kuechle and Samantha Zuehl. Pallbearers will be Chad Kuechle, Nichi Hirsch, Heather Moseley, Craig Moseley, Justin Bouska and Sarah Mol. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers Howard, Darrel, Kenneth, Ronald and Roger Schmidt. The musicians will be organist Lynn Hoff and vocalists Jim Fieldseth, Andrew Strand and Rev. David Doppenberg. Memorials are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale. Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
