Clippers take, keep early lead over Brewers

·

The Watkins Clippers jumped out of the starting gate with three runs in the first inning: on a single by Dan Berg, a ground-out by Tyler Hebrink, and a double by  Brendan Ashton. That would have been enough to win the game in the end, but they added another run in the fifth inning for good measure. Watkins won, 4-2.

Matt Geislinger earned the win for the Clippers, pitching all nine innings. Austin Klaverkamp took the loss for Luxemburg, pitching all eight.

Brendan Ashton led the Clippers at bat with two doubles and 1 RBI. Lincoln Haugen also hit a double. Tyler Hebrink had 2 RBI and Dan Berg one.

The Brewers scored two runs on the day, both in the fourth inning: Colton Fruth scored on a double by Austin Klaverkamp who then scored on a passed ball.

The Clippers are scheduled to play at Litchfield Blues, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 24; and at Eden Valley Hawks at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 25.
