Kimball Community Education is now taking registrations for summer activities. A new program called KidZone Day Camp will be offered this year, with a variety of activities for for children 4-12. Children can participate in dance, music, arts and crafts, and sports sampler Mondays and Wednesdays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays there will be T-ball, rookie ball, drama, tennis, cooking and Nature Smurfs. Classes will be offered from June 2-July 8. Each class is one hour long. The first class will begin at 9 a.m. and the last class will end at noon. The cost is $15 for the first class, and $10 for each additional class. Child care For those families in need of child care, KidZone offers a full day package (6 a.m.-6 p.m.) or half day package (6 a.m.-12 noon, or 12 noon-6 p.m.). The full day package includes breakfast, snacks, all of the above-mentioned classes, enrichment activities, and a t-shirt for $20 per day. Half day morning packages include breakfast, snack, classes and a T-shirt. Half day afternoons include a snack, T-shirt and planned and enrichment and recreational activities. Half day packages are $16 a day. Junior Golf Program The Junior Golf Program will take place Friday beginning June 4-July 11, except for July 2. Golf pro Judd Bonham will teach golfing basics while challenging those already familiar with the game. The cost of the program is $35 for members and $40 for non-members. Contact Kimball Community Education to register. Track and field club Summer track and field club is taking registrations for the upcoming season. Students who have just finished grades 3-6 are invited to try their skills in running and field events. Participants will compete in four area meets. Practice begins June 8-9 at Ken Helling Field. The cost for this program is $25, which includes a T-shirt. Express Railyard Rookie Camp The Kimball Express baseball team will offer a new baseball opportunity for boys and girls, called Express Railyard Rookie Camp from 9 a.m.-12 noon Saturday, June 5, at Kimball Veterans Memorial Field. Express team players will share their knowledge and talents in the basic skills and strategies of baseball and softball. Each participant will receive an official Express T-shirt and two St. Cloud River Bats tickets. The price for registrations is $12. Changes at Community Ed Along with some new summer opportunities, the Kimball Community Education office is undergoing some changes. Cathy Olson, Community Education Assistant, has taken a position at Litchfield Community Education as Enrichment and Recreation Programmer. This is a great opportunity for Cathy, and she will be an excellent addition to their staff. Although she will be sorely missed, we wish her well in her new position. Summer hours will be Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and closed Fridays.
