Congressman Collin Peterson will seek another term as Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District Representative in the U.S House of Representatives. “I am proud of my record of this service to the people of this district, and I look forward to an opportunity to continue this work in the 109th Congress,” said Peterson. “I am honored that the people of the 7th district have trusted me to work in Congress on their behalf, and I am going to go out and ask people for their continued support.” Peterson is a senior member of the House Committee on Agriculture and also a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (while on leave from the House Committee an Veteran’s Affairs). He is also a past chairman of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus. Peterson was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1990. Prior to that, he served as a Minnesota State Senator and made his living as a certified public accountant and small business owner. He grew up on a farm in Baker, graduated from Glyndon High School and received his degree in business administration and accounting from Moorhead State University. He has made his home in Detroit Lakes since 1968.
