Weather: We had a beautiful and warm weekend for the start of the fishing opener and for Mother?Äôs Day. Morris, Benson, Montevideo, and Faribault all hit a very warm 87 degrees F on Sunday. Factoring in the temperature and relative humidity, it felt more like the lower 90s in many locations.
Thunderstorms developed overnight across parts of northern Minnesota Sunday night into Monday morning. Some of the storms produced dime size hail west of Duluth. Temperatures were mild overnight Sunday night into Monday morning with temperatures generally in the low to mid 50s across central and west central Minnesota and into the 60s across southern Minnesota.
Another line of thunderstorms moved out of South Dakota into southern Minnesota on Monday. Some of these cells produced some locally heavy rainfall, small hail and gusty winds. A few of these cells had the potential to be on the severe side Monday night.
Much of the rest of the week looks to be wet and stormy with temperatures falling below average. For the midweek, high temperatures will tumble into the upper 50s and lower 60s for Wednesday and Thursday. If things hold together, you might need a warm jacket by Saturday as temperatures are projected to fall into the low to mid 50s for daytime high temperatures. Across northern Minnesota, high temperatures could reach only the upper 40s by Saturday.
We should be back to more seasonal levels by early next week and climb into the lower 70s for Monday and Tuesday. Certainly, this time of the year temperatures can be all over the place!
Have a great rest of the week and keep the umbrella handy.
