The Stearns County Board of Commissioners is seeking citizen representatives from Commissioner Districts 1 and 4 to serve on its Community Corrections Advisory Board. The advisory board consists of representatives from the local criminal justice system, social services, education, minority groups, crime victims and lay citizens. It is responsible for making recommendations concerning correctional services provided by the Community Corrections Division of the Human Services Department. The range of services includes prevention, probation and parole, as well as services for the confinement, care and treatment of offenders. Advisory board duties Advisory board members must attend regularly scheduled meetings of the full Advisory Board. Meetings take place at 3:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. In addition, members are expected to regularly participate as members of a board committee. The Adult Services Committee meets from 12-1 p.m. on the first Monday of each month; Juvenile Services Committee meets from 7:30-9 a.m. the first Friday of each month; and the Comprehensive Plan Committee meets as needed. Board members and committee members are eligible for per diem and mileage reimbursement to offset expenses.
