The Eden Valley-Watkins girls opened a new season on Saturday, Aug 25, as they played in the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Invitational. Participating schools included ACGC, Annandale, Buffalo Lake-Hector, Delano, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity, Melrose Area, Mora, Mound-Westonka, Paynesville Area, Tri-City United, and Eden Valley-Watkins.
The Lady Eagles looked sharp all day and battled their way to the championship game, falling to a tough Annandale team, 25-16, 18-25, and 13-15. Earlier rounds for EV-W resulted in victories, topping Delano, 18-25, 25-20, 15-11; defeating ACGC, 25-15, 25-23; and outlasting HL-W-W, 25-19, 25-20. EV-W Stats: Serving: Breanna Walz, 41-43, 3 aces; Kennedy Kleist, 34-35, 3 aces; Kills: Halle Jansen, 32 kills.
