High-speed chase, shoot-out, arrest A private citizen notified the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department that a stolen truck was going to be delivered to an area near the 400 Club in Rockville Sunday, March 21. Officers spotted and attempted to stop the truck at 1:40 a.m.; a high-speed pursuit followed, involving Stearns County deputies, Minnesota State Patrol and Cold Spring Police. During the chase the driver of the truck fired several rounds from a handgun at pursuing officers. The driver is identified as Douglas Dressan, 19, of Brooten. He was taken into custody near Goodner Lake. The handgun was later recovered with the assistance of a Sartell Officer and his canine partner. Dressan is currently being held at the Stearns County Jail awaiting criminal charges of assault, felony in possession of a handgun, fleeing a peace officer, and possession of stolen property. The pick-up truck was a 1999 Ford F350 that had been stolen from the Tenvoorde Ford lot. Maurer sentenced last month Joshua Reinhardt Maurer, 20, of South Haven was sentenced to five years probation, 30 days in jail, a $1,000 fine and $965.01 restitution for Burglary in the Third Degree which took place on or between April 3 and April 4, 2003. Maurer must also obtain individual therapy, comply with recommendations and provide a DNA sample. He was sentenced by Judge Landwehr Feb. 2, 2004.
