The cross country team competed in the section 6a meet Thursday, Oct. 29. The weather was cold and very wet.
The EV-W-K girls’ team finished a very solid fifth out of 14 complete teams. The individaul finishers were: Tanya Maciejewski 11th in a time of 16.45, Molly Hesse 13th-16:49, Kelsey Vigoren 36th-17:50, Larissa Anthofer 37th-17:50.9, Raelyn Callander 38th-17:51, Renee Berg 48th-18:14 and Jennifer Notch 66th-19:09. Tanya was 16 seconds and Molly was 20 seconds from going to the state meet.
Head Coach Holly Hansen said “WOW! WE had an awesome night! Our team has held steady at fifth place for the past three years. I must say that as much as I would like to see that closer to the number one spot, I am quite pleased at how my team holds their own. We also had two girls narrowly miss state, which is bittersweet because although they missed it, they are sophomores and have two years to accomplish this goal. Lots of hills on this course and lots of rain.”
